Wear a leather jacket

When it comes to leather, everybody is in on it. Young and old, punk or not, everybody goes insane for these outfits, and why not? You can wear leather with pretty much everything. So what is the best way to wear a leather jacket? One option is wearing a black jacket with neutral colors like gray and white; you can wear your cool outfit with a crazy color dress, like orange, purple, or fuchsia. Or even dress up full goth style, accessorizing the outfit with black lipstick, black stockings, and black eyeliner. There’s nothing cooler than goth fashion and goth clothes.

The 50s fashion trends gave us Rebel Without A Cause; the 60s fashion trends gave us movies like Grease, where the coolest people wore leather jackets. The 80s fashion gave us Indiana Jones and the Terminator, and the 90s Fashion trend gave us Top Gun, all wearing leather and looking fabulous. But the question remains: How DO we wear a leather jacket and look good in it?

A buyers guide to leather

While most people wear it with pretty much everything, there are more unique ways to wear leather. The first one is to dress in leather from head to toe. However, since everybody can wear it like that, how do we stand out?

Wear a leather jacket women. One of the best ways to wear leather is to choose a bright color. Now a street fashion trend, pink, orange, white and yellow jackets are best worn with black tops and black pants. But, of course, you can also match your jacket with skinny jeans, ripped jeans, or any other jeans for that matter, and hit the town looking more like a fashionista than an ordinary Joe. Wear a leather jacket with a dress. Sometimes you need to just mix the sweetness of a dress with the toughness of a leather jacket. Look for some pastel colored dress like pink, yellow or orange and add a tough guy leather jacket. Wear a leather jacket ladies! You will look stunning!

Wear a leather jacket men. The Grunge Era gave us the plaid shirts, the ripped jeans, the choker, and the black goth makeup. So, why not add your jacket to the mix? Typical to this time, people wore rock band shirts, oversized dark sunglasses, and converse, together with the gothic style makeup that gave one vibe—that you did not want to be <blanked> with. On the other end of the spectrum, you could mix the cutie-cutie Lolita fashion with a leather outfit, try a cotton candy pink dress with some leather to take away from all that pink sweetness.

And finally comes streetwear style, with jeans, punk, hoodie skateboard outfits, add a touch of leather, and you will be too cool for school. That, plus a little bit of crazy makeup, and you are good to conquer the world. Or you might go a different route, a more western boutique style. Cowboys wore leather long before the 1960s fashion inspired by James Dean and Grease came to the television screen. The cowboys made their mark on the fashion world with their jeans, fringe jacket, and a bit of leather.

When it comes to women’s fashion, nothing beats the sexy dominatrix look; leather from top to bottom, and stilettos to top the image. Or a tight corset to show your curves. You can also go a different route and add color to your outfit—a leather jacket and skirt with a colored blouse, unbuttoned to show some cleavages or not. It’s up to you how conservative or risqué you want to play. Or go the Matrix route with a trench coat.

When it comes to intimate wear, leather is in style. So, if you are looking for a passionate adventure with a loved one, or a passionate adventure period, there are many outfits to tickle your fancy. Outfits come in many forms for many occasions. But how do we buy a great quality outfit?

Wear a Leather Jacket

How many people get ripped off purchasing a purse or a jacket from a local merchant or a thrift store? Let’s face it, not too many people can afford a $3000 bag from Louis Vuitton. Nowadays, many merchants sell genuine goods that are not precisely leather. But how can you distinguish between the two? How do you know the difference between genuine outfits and its fake counterparts? How can you buy natural products for the fall and winter without overpaying for a knockoff?

Read the Label

One obvious thing to look for is the words “real leather.” Yes, folks; it’s that simple. Many manufacturers are proud to use the real deal and are not afraid to advertise it. The product might say “100% Real Leather.” Other labels might include words like “Genuine Leather,” “Top/Full Grain,” or “Made with Animal Products.”

The Feel of Leather

A good indicator of quality is the “feel.” Touch the product; natural leather has a grainy surface, or a pebble fell. Bear in mind this material is not perfect. Every piece is unique, just like every animal is; no two cows look alike, and no two purses should look alike either. It has wrinkles, scratches, and creases. Because in most instances you need to feel the outfit, buying goods online is risky because you cannot see the product up close or touch it to know the difference. Is it a genuine bag? Is it a fake bag? It’s up to you how much risk you are willing to take for your pay price.

The Smell of Leather

The natural counterpart has a smell. Have you ever heard the expression “it even smells like real leather”? The genuine one has a musty smell, while the fake counterpart has a chemical plastic-like smell. Usually, leather smells like skin, while a phony smell like plastic. Get a sample, hold it to a flame for about 5–10 seconds, and see what happens. Natural products will only char slightly and smell like burned hair, while the fake counterpart smells like burned plastic.

FAUX LEATHER

A key indicator is rough edges. Natural leather will wear out around the edges slightly. On the other hand, the fake plastic-made counterpart has clean-cut edges. The rule of thumb is that counterfeit products look too perfect. You will also see a slight color change when you bend the product. If you test something that twists like a belt or the purse’s strap, genuine leather has a certain elasticity and will have a subtle color shift, while the color of the fake belt kind will stay the same. One way you can feel the difference is to look for wrinkles in the material. If you press down, genuine leather will have creases, while faux products will keep their shape and rigidity.

When you buy Full Grain, try to buy it from high-end stores. Full-Grain is the best quality there is. It is the toughest, the most sought after, the sturdiest, and the most challenging piece to work with. Unfortunately, making it, or buying it, is also most expensive because it is not manufactured or synthetically altered; that is why it has unique characteristics such as creases, feel, colors, etc.

Wear a Leather Jacket – High Quality Leather

Because this leather is so expensive, it is best to buy it in person rather than purchase it online. While Full Grain is the highest standard, the next best leather is “top grain,” which is still a high-quality product but with a lower price. To remove the flaws, this kind of leather is manufactured a bit. It is softer and smooth but still a sturdy and tough material. When it comes to shopping, avoid bonded products because the materials come from shavings and are not a real piece of animal skin. In this process, the manufacturer gathers all the shavings and mixes them with glue. Bonded products are made from cheap and low-quality leather, giving the finished product a low quality and price.

How do we wear a leather jacket of high quality? Most shoppers always look for the “GENUINE” label. However, there are many other types of brands out there. “Full Grain” is the best, most expensive leather, followed by “Top Grain.” A grade lower than top grain is “Genuine,” and “Bonded” comes last because it is the poorest quality.

An excellent way to test a leather product is to drop some water on the product. When you do this, the material needs to absorb the water. When you repeat the process on the faux part, the water will just stay there. Genuine leather is dense and absorbs water quickly.

Price. Genuine goods are expensive and have a fixed price. If you search for a product, you will find a base price. The cost of synthetic fabrics will be all over the place. A $500 authentic leather purse will never be $99.99; the price will fluctuate between $400 and $600 based on the product availability, quality, brand, and season.

Ignore color. Colors and dyes can be added to both the real and the fake product. For example, just because a leather wallet is blue doesn’t mean it is fake, and just because the product is brown like leather doesn’t make it real.
