BUY YOUR JEANS THE RIGHT WAY
Do you love you jeans or your sexy ripped jeans? Than this article is just for you. Jeans are all about fashion. At the height of the 1980s fashion boom, almost every household had a pair of jeans in their closets. But this streetwear outfit trend began centuries ago in France. Some say the word “jeans” came because of a fusion of two cities in the 15th century – Genoa, Italy, called “Genes” by the French and Nimes, France, where de Nimes (from Nimes) or DeNimes (or denim) came about. Whatever the origin of the name, jeans started a street fashion revolution that lives on still today. Because who doesn’t love a pair of good American jeans?
Since jeans gave birth to a new street style revolution, what began as a material made for tents and mine workers years later became an icon of both men’s and women’s fashion, where almost every household in the world has a pair or, shall I say, a whole closet full. With fashion brands like Levi’s, Wranglers, Gap, Polo, among others, jeans became a fashion brand. But how do we buy that perfect pair to keep us happy for years to come?
The first piece of advice I can give you is: do not rush when buying denim. Jeans are the only pair of clothing that you will probably wear everywhere. To the store, to the mall, in the park, out to a party, pretty much everywhere. It would be best if you bought a pair of jeans with the thought that you will wear them 24/7.
When you buy a new pair move around. Sit down, bend, try to touch your toes, and try to feel comfortable. Remember, jeans do give out a little after you wear them a few times. If there is a pair you love, do not give up on them just because they are a little tight.
MEASURE YOURSELF
An excellent way to buy the perfect pair of jeans is to measure yourself beforehand. Afterward, take those measurements to your store and see which jeans fit. No pair fits one size, and most people fall between a range; for example, a person can wear a size 26 Levi’s but a size 29 Wranglers.
Like with all clothes, no size fits all. If you don’t know how to measure yourself, ask a professional to do it for you. When purchasing jeans, you also must understand the rise. Try to measure where you would like the top of the pants to sit below your crotch. If you want to make your legs look longer, buy high-rise jeans. When you measure your waist, try to relax. Measure at the smallest part of your waist and ask the store if they have a size guide; this will help you with purchasing your pair. Another way to see what size you wear is to take an already worn pair of pants and measure them. You can also take those measurements with you to the store and find a pair that fits.
BUYING JEANS ONLINE
It can be a little bit challenging buying jeans online because you do not get to try your jeans. If you still choose to take this route, buy a few pairs in the range of your size. Try them on and return the pairs that you do not want to keep. If you purchase a pair online, be sure to look at the website’s size guidelines.
Different websites have different approaches, especially if you are buying clothes from other countries, which have different guidelines than the United States. When you buy your jeans online, always pay attention to the product description. If they stretch, if they are baggy, what do other customers say about the product? Zoom on the pictures to see the fabric and the color up close. If you read other people’s reviews, they usually tell you if the sizes are correct. Confirm if the product is portrayed the right way, or if the website only wants to take your money.
When buying jeans, you might not get it right for the first time. Do not be afraid to go back; return the pair and get something new. Or take your money back and go to another store. Do not keep your jeans and struggle to wear them because you are too shy to return the merchandise.
Aftercare is essential if you want to keep your jeans for a long time. Before you put them in the washing machine, turn them inside out. Do not use a temperature over 86 degrees Fahrenheit and never use “tumble dry.”
But the question remains: How to buy a good quality pair of jeans? The first thing you must do is “feel” the pair. If you see a pair you like, take the pair in your hands. Good quality jeans are heavy. Pants are usually labeled “light,” “medium,” or “heavy”, the latest one being the best quality.
THE QUALITY OF JEANS
Heavy jeans are the best quality because they have the most threads and are most durable. Take a closer look at the stitching, especially around the hem, the side, and the pocket. You are looking for solid stitching that will not unravel or break under duress. Look for double stitching or a chain link of stitches.
Try to pull the jeans at the seam; if you see the stitches being torn apart by just a little bit of force, walk away. Check the label for a 1% or 2% Lycra or Spandex; if the percentage is more significant than 2%, the pair will become looser, stretch out over time, and become baggier. Look for copper buttons and rivets; if the manufacturer spends time putting a lot of detail, then rest assured you found a good pair. When it comes to price, good-quality jeans cost a pretty buck or two. If the price is too reasonable to be true, it probably is. A sturdy, formidable pair will cost money.
WHAT IS “SELVAGE DENIM”?
Try to look for a fabric called “Selvage.” Selvage denim is the sturdiest fabric to make jeans from; 100% cotton is the next quality. It is not as sturdy as selvage denim, but it stretches more. Last, you have the option of “Raw Denim.” Raw Denim is leftover Denim – from which the low-end pairs are made; these jeans are the least expensive, and makers sacrifice quality for the price.
MAKE SURE YOU LOOK GOOD
A good pair will complement your style and your figure. It should not just hang on you, but should instead fit perfectly with the curvature of your body. Some are labeled “skinny” or “relaxed.” Do not be afraid to try them out; even if you are too shy to wear skinny jeans, you might never know—some brands might have a different definition of “skinny” than others.
THE COLOR OF JEANS
Colors are also important. Jeans do not always come in blue. Jeans manufacturers in modern times have an endless number of colors. The most common colors are blue and black. However, you should try other colors. White, beige, brown, even red or green; match it with a ‘like” color blouse and you will look amazing.
STICK WITH A BRAND
If you like a particular brand that fits you well, and you feel comfortable with it, stick with that brand. The chances are that every pair you buy will serve you well. This way is better than switching brands every time and figuring what size you need to buy. Jeans made primarily out of cotton are the best, and they will be the most flexible and comfortable. If the main fabric is linen, try to wear them especially during the spring and summer months because the material is thinner and lighter. Jeans primarily made from stretch are the most comfortable. Stretch is bendy and will mold after your body giving you the freedom to move with ease. If you are not a fashionista and do not crave attention, stick with the classic blue jeans. You cannot go wrong with something people have worn for over a century.
When it comes to streetwear outfits, you could say the jean is king. Whether you find them at western boutiques or local malls, jeans have always been a fashion icon that stole the eyes and the money of every shopper that stepped into the store. So, the next time you shop for a pair or a jeans jacket outfit, you know what to look for. With that, happy trails until we meet again.
I genuinely treasure your work, Great post.
